The existence of a frozen mode in periodic serpentine waveguide with broken longitudinal symmetry is demonstrated numerically. associated stationary inflection point (SIP) the Bloch dispersion relation, where three eigenmodes collapse on each other, as it an exceptional order three. regime characterized by vanishing group velocity and enhanced field amplitude, which can be very attractive various applications including engineering, lasers, delay lines. Useful simple design equations that lead to realization adjusting few parameters are derived. trend quality factor length peculiar shown. conditions for points degeneracy also discussed.
